Early last year, I took the plunge into finding my first home. Against my better judgment and to please my mother, I went to Regions because she works there. I found a home and did the necessary paperwork. The interaction from the mortgage rep was professional but impersonal and distant. It took about a month to get through the mortgage process and days before the closing date, the mortgage rep had more paperwork. I find out that not only had I not qualified for the amount, but he wanted me to reapply under a different type of loan. He made no mention whatsoever during this length of time about any issues. Coming so close to owning a home and having this major setback had me in tears; literally. Putting your trust in a professional and having it crumble in your face stings. He apologized, attempted to retry (which took longer than expected) and I just later gave up on him. Thankfully, the sellers accepted an extension to postpone the closing date; thus I took my business to the Credit Union.
Going through the Credit Union was the best decision and should have been my first. At first I was denied by one of the mortgage reps only because of a misunderstanding with my salary/input error. Later, Adam called, he took a second look at my application and knew he could help. Taking the time to do that was amazing and I am forever grateful. If it wasn't for that, I don't know who I could have turned to for help. Adam went through the process efficiently; with a professional demeanor; and all-around knowledgeable when it came to answering any questions I had. The level of customer service Adam provided was exceptional! I appreciate how he kept me informed on the progress of my application because I wanted this home so bad and he knew it. Adam was very down to earth and actually cared which made a difference to me. I felt more at ease during our interaction by phone than I did with the Regions mortgage representative in person. In what may possibly be a world record, I became a first time home buyer in a matter of weeks! It's these things that make me realize why I love this Credit Union. It's because of people like Adam Jones!
